What is the Best Carpet Cleaning Method?

There are always Pros and Cons but one Method is the Best for deep Cleaning

The best method of cleaning carpets is usually hot water extraction (steam cleaning), which removes over 90% of dirt and bacteria from carpeting. Several methods are considered (or may be referred to as) “dry cleaning” that effectively ensures carpets are ready for foot traffic as quickly as possible.

We find that some homeowners don’t realize that shampooing isn’t the best way to clean carpets. Our industry offers options that will differ in effectiveness, downtime, and price. Some methods involve simple maintenance cleaning, while other methods are a better option for removing tough stains, soil, and dirt.

Below are the other methods commonly used.

1. Shampooing – This method uses a dry foam with a rotary buffer. This offers a fast dry time, but poor cleaning since foam isn’t the best cleaner or grime remover.
2. Powdered Absorbent Compound – works fast on spot stains or more day-to-day dirt, with no need to dry out the carpet afterward.
3. Bonnet Cleaning – uses a machine with a spinning pad (bonnet) & is quick and inexpensive for spot cleaning. It’s not recommended for long-term carpet care & not effective at removing dirt and deep stains. This method offers superficial cleaning, quick-drying, lower pricing. This method can also distort or abrade carpet fibers on cut-pile carpeting.

These methods can also be used in combinations such as bonnet cleaning with powdered absorbent or foam. Those combinations are then typically promoted as proprietary or given fancy marketing names like: bonnet cleaning with liquid encapsulation. In the end, there are three alternatives to hot water extraction.

We find that every carpet cleaning method has advantages and disadvantages. While there will be advocates and critics of each technique, it’s essential to consider some of the pros and cons. Sometimes methods are used because of business necessity. For example, hot water extraction is rarely used in a commercial setting that requires facility use on a 24-7 basis. A great example would be a casino. Such a business can’t afford to shut down areas for thorough cleaning. So, in this case, the carpet just needs to look clean.

Hot water extraction is an excellent choice for those with allergies or sensitivities to detergents and shampoos. Steam also kills bacteria, germs, mold, mildew, and other irritants. However, it’s challenging to remove all traces of water after steam cleaning, so carpeting may not be ready for foot traffic for several hours after cleaning.

Our high-speed process does a great job of stripping soil from carpet fibers while using little water and significantly decreasing the time it takes for carpets to dry. Hot water is applied to carpet fibers with a high-pressure wand. The hot water, pressure, and cleaning agents dissolve thick dirt, mud, dust, and other debris from carpeting, allowing it to be extracted easily.

In summary carpet cleaning is much like any other cleaning, and it can be done superficially or thoroughly, and it really depends on your needs. We like to do a thorough job for our customers that care about their homes and businesses. So to ensure that you keep your home’s carpets and area rugs cleaned call All American Carpet Cleaning and have your carpet cleaned by a pro.
